On November 26, 2024 a special ceremony was held at the Parliament House in Adelaide for the official opening of the new Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in South Australia.
This ceremony was attended by the Honourable Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, Members of the South Australian-Croatian Community, government ministers Bettison, Michaels, Scriven and Szakacs, the President of the Legislative Council, The Hon. Terry Stephens MLC, the Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Vincent Tarzia MP, parliamentarians, Her Worship the Mayor of Port Lincoln Diana Mislov and Consul General Joseph Gene Petric. They celebrated the opening of the Consulate and welcomed the appointment of David Tudorovic as Croatia’s new Honorary Consul to South Australia.
David will work closely with the Embassy and the Government of South Australia to advance the bilateral relationship between the Republic of Croatia and South Australia, as envisaged under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation between the two governments, signed during the visit of His Excellency Dr Gordan Grlić Radman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, to Australia in December 2023.
The MOU and the opening of the Consulate are an acknowledgment of the invaluable contribution of the sizeable Croatian community in South Australia to both Croatia and the state they now call home.
David Tudorovic is CEO of a group of companies owned by the Tudorovic Family.
The Group consists of the Tudor Holdings Pty. Ltd. operating in Australia, and Arsenal Holdings d.o.o. in Croatia.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy from the University of South Australia in 1987, David commenced work with KPMG Chartered Accountants in Adelaide. David spent two years in the Adelaide Audit Division, before moving to the Sydney Insolvency Division, where he completed his professional year of study, and gained membership to the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Following two years in London, David returned to Adelaide, to join the family business in 1991. The Group at the time encompassed Davalan Concrete (premix concrete) Tudor Pavers (Brick Manufacturer), Tudor Civil (Local Government Contracting), Cooke Pre Cast Concrete Pty. Ltd., (manufacturer of pre cast concrete drainage products) and Trenel Pty.Ltd. (production of sands & aggregates).
Between 2017 and 2020, the Tudorovic family sold its interests in three South Australian companies, Davalan Concrete was sold to Adelaide Brighton Cement Ltd. , Cooke Pre Cast to private equity and Trenel Sands to a local producer.
The family has maintained its interest in the Spencer Gulf Prawn Fishing Industry, and is actively involved in property development and investment in South Australia.
In Croatia, the family’s holding company, Arsenal Holding d.o.o, holds a controlling interest in the resort company, Ilirija d.d. This company owns and operates four, 4 Star hotels (1100 beds) and three Marinas (total berths 750), camping grounds (1000 parcels) and associated tourism assets, in the Adriatic resort town of Biograd.
Following a number of years of strong growth for the Resort Company Ilirija d.d., the company was listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange in 2015, with the Tudorovic Family maintaining a 65% stake. The company continues to expand, with plans for new Marinas, and increased Hotel capacity. In 2016, the company acquired the 27,000m2 City Galleria Mall in Zadar.
